In a stunningly candid decision last week by the Federal Trade Commission, the agency called Intuit's deceptive advertising for TurboTax widespread, knowing, and egregious leading people to believe they could prepare their taxes for free.

Last week, as a part of the now-available iOS 17.3 update, Apple released Stolen Device Protection. The setting adds a layer of security that could foil a thief who has stolen both your iPhone and the passcode you use to unlock it. If you enable that feature, your iPhone will restrict the passcode's power over certain settings when you are away from a location familiar to the iPhone, such as your home or work.
