If you are a sale shopper at Staples.com, be careful. We found half a dozen items advertised at deep discounts last week in their online circular, but when added to your shopping cart, all the discounts disappeared. Thus, you could have been overcharged if you were not paying close attention.

Fair Isaac Corp., creator of FICO credit scores, will soon start scoring consumers more harshly if they have rising debt levels or fall behind on loan payments. Consumers with already-high FICO scores of about 680 or higher who continue to manage loans well will likely get a higher score than under previous FICO versions. Those with already-low scores below 600 who continue to miss payments or accumulate other black marks will experience bigger score declines than under previous FICO score versions.
MrConsumer has long said he is privacy-insensitive. For instance, if someone wants to maintain a database of everything he buys with his loyalty card, fine. It is called "Privacy Chicken" and if you get to level 18, you technically win (but will have demonstrated a careless disregard for your personal information). Where do you draw the line giving the NY Times and the makers of this game your info? Note: the privacy policy for the game promises to delete your personal information with 30 minutes after you play. Play now.
