Mouse Print* -- April Fools: These Celebs Didn't Really Endorse Surreal Cereal
A scrappy cereal brand in the UK posted prominent billboards claiming that famous celebrities love their sugar-free cereal. There was just one problem: none of them ever tried it. Will a big asterisk save the company from legal action?
That is our Mouse Print* story this week.
Best and Worst Home Upgrades
With home improvement season about to kick off, here are common home improvement projects evaluated to determine which deliver the best return on investment and which are the worst. Topping the list is converting from a fossil fuel furnace and A/C combination to an electric heat pump to do both. Upscale bathroom and master suite additions were the worst investment.
With inflation continuing to take its toll on our pocketbooks, here are dozens of ways to stretch a buck including: stop ordering delivery, live below your means, stop eating out so much, mend and reuse, check for and cancel subscriptions, etc. I'll add one: never go to Starbucks!

CBC Marketplace did a mini-investigation comparing the prices of similar products but which are marketed separately to men and women. They demonstrate that in some cases, women are still being charged more -- a "pink tax" if you will.

You can pay less for every gallon of gasoline at select gas stations near you with the Upside app for your smartphone. The amount varies from day to day and by location, but is perhaps a nickel or dime per gallon savings or more with periodic bonuses. And if you sign up for a new account now, you will earn an extra 15 cents per gallon back on your first purchase when you spend at least $10.
Download the app here on your smartphone and use promo code 724MP for that extra 15 cents rebate per gallon. To use the app after you sign up: (1) Look for the current price and rebate amounts at various stations in your area; (2) Claim the offer you want; (3) Go to that station and buy gas; (4) Take the printed receipt; (5) Tell the app which credit card you used and confirm you made the purchase, and (6) The app will tell you whether you need to email a picture of the receipt or not.
The rebates are credited to your account a few days after you buy gas, and can be transferred electronically to your bank account, fee-free, after you earn $10 in rebates.

Mulch - 2 cu. ft. Bags - $2
Lowe's turns the clock back on mulch prices. Two cubic foot bags in your choice of colors are only $2 each until April 12. Last year, you only had one opportunity to buy mulch at this price. Who know what this year holds. It is unknown if Home Depot will accept price matches on this item since they carry a different brand.
