How to Turn on Images and Make the Newsletter Shorter

If your new graphical Consumer World email newsletter looks like this, your email settings need to tweaked:

Newsletter without graphics

For reference, the old newsletter format looked like this:

old newsletter

Compare that to the new graphical newsletter as it is meant to be viewed:

new newsletter

If your newsletter looks like the top picture rather than the one just above, it is because you do not have "images" turned on in your email program. Here is how to do it in Yahoo! mail for example:

Newsletter fix

There are similar settings in Gmail, Thunderbird, and other programs. Depending on your program, you may have to click "show images" each time you want to read a graphical email, or under "options", you may be able to make your choice permanent.

One other thing you can do to improve reading: If the white columns of the newsletter seem too narrow, you can widen them in most email programs. Just place your mouse cursor on the left and/or right window frame, press down the left mouse button, and drag the frame outward to widen your view.

widen the newsletter

Hopefully with this knowledge, you can get full use and enjoyment out of the new graphical Consumer World newsletter. And remember, you must click the newsletter links to read the actual stories mentioned (which are all accessible from the Consumer World website).
