Pay only 2.5˘ a minute long distance on ECG's state-to-state plan (lower 48 states). The rate is good all day, with no minimum usage and no monthly fee like $5.95. (Pay only a 59˘ reg. recovery fee plus the usual taxes.) They use real phone lines (not Internet), there are no special codes to dial, and you can get online billing charged to your debit/credit card or bank account. They use 6-second billing after the first 18 seconds, so you save more than with companies that round up to the next whole minute. This is conventional long distance telephone service, connected right to your telephone. Just pick up the phone and dial normally. You can also get a free 800 number that rings on your home phone (or wherever you designate), and you pay the same low rate -- 2.5˘ minute, with no monthly fee for the 800 number. This is a great way to let your kids call you without it costing them money. Instate and HI/AK rates vary. Here's more information.
