Two Months After Deadline, Most Big Retailers Still Can't Read Chipped Credit Cards

chip-card reader Consumer World surveyed four dozen major retailers to see if their checkout credit card terminals can read those new credit cards with an embedded computer chip. Three-out-of-four cannot despite having installed credit card terminals equipped with card slots to read them and a deadline of this past October 1.
