Besides running a bunch of errands at the same, Kiplinger advises you of the websites that compare local gas prices, what time of day and what days are best to buy, how driving more slowly will increase your gas mileage, and other tips.Best and Worst College Savings PlansIf you are saving for college for your kids (or grandkids), there is a type of account called a 529 plan. It is much like a Roth IRA, where you deposit after tax dollars, but all withdrawals are tax-free. And hopefully the funds have grown over time. How do find a good 529 plan? Lastly, there is a whole other breed of college saving plan, called a prepaid 529. With it, there is a loosely worded promise to cover future tuition rates if you pay today's price now. Here are some downsides of the prepaid plans.Do Collision Damage Policies Really Cover You? When renting a car, you are always asked if you want collision damage waiver to cover the costs if you bang up the car. Savvy renters usually decline the coverage because most credit cards provide that as a free benefit. If you don't read the fine print, and don't fully understand what is covered and what is not covered, you could be in for an expensive surprise as was the writer of this story.
